Resident Rights
Residents/Clients
Nursing home residents have the right to a dignified existence, self-determination and communication with and access to persons and services within and without the facility. This includes the right to exercise their rights as residents/clients of the facility and as citizens of the United States.
Other rights include freedom from interference, coercion, discrimination, and reprisal from the facility when exercising their rights; freedom from verbal, physical or sexual abuse and misappropriation of their personal possessions.
Protection of funds, free choice, privacy and confidentiality, receiving mail unopened, access to telephone and use of personal property are some other rights. {This is not all inclusive list}.
